Surprised no one has given any love to this one yet. If you can drill a straight hole, you can install this sensor. It is easy, near-completely hidden, and reliable in my experience. I still use a surface mounted sensor for my sliding door, but this one is in my other doors.
(Side benefit: I added one on both of my kid’s bedroom doors and now know when they sneak downstairs after bedtime. Do I feel bad about it? Absolutely not.)
